Call to Order: Chair John N. welcomed members at 7:50 a.m. and asked Employer Conference committee members to stay after the tour and presentation for a short meeting.

 

He turned the meeting over to Robert Musgrove who welcomed Partnership members and gave an overview of the programs and facilities the college staff would present and show.

 

John Heckman, Director of the Johnson Center of Virtual Reality told of the relationship the center has with area and metropolitan manufacturers and the support it receives from a Minnesota Jobs Skills Partnership grant. He also demonstrated a virtual reality project being developed to train painters at a Twin City manufacturer of fireplaces. Several members painted using the virtual reality equipment. Members were told about the two-year technology degree program offered by the college.

 

Next members were given tours of the college's Manufacturing Technology area and Telecommunications Hub. Hamid Eydgahi and Robert Musgrove directed the tours and explained the purpose and capabilities of each area.

 

Following the tour Jason Spaeth distributed information and told about Continuing Education/Customized Training, Mary Bucher and staff did likewise for the Employment and Training Center/Child Care Resource and Referral program. Finally, Robert Musgrove showed the planned remodeling and new facilities via virtual reality and blueprints. A question and answer session followed each presentation.

 

Adjournment: The presentations were followed by a general question and answer session. The presentation and tour was adjourned at 9:15 a.m.
